Although hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, it’s not freely available - it must be separated from other elements.
Hydrogen can be produced from renewable energy sources or fossil fuels.
How the hydrogen is being made
The hydrogen will be produced at Hydrogen Park South Australia (HyP SA).
Hydrogen produced at HyP SA is a renewable gas because it is produced from water and renewable electricity, using a process called electrolysis.
This renewable hydrogen will be blended with natural gas for distribution in our existing gas network or put into storage, while the oxygen will be released into the atmosphere.
At AGN we’re subject to regulation by government bodies which are designed to ensure our commitment to safety, reliability and service continue. We will have all necessary approvals to undertake this project before we begin production.
